Earlier this month, the SightPlan team had the opportunity to attend NAA’s 2018 Apartmentalize Educational Conference in San Diego! Armed with our walking shoes and a hunger for knowledge, we had the chance to catch up with friends and colleagues, learn about hot topics in the multifamily industry, and spread the word about SightPlan’s revolutionary software solutions.
This year was especially exciting for us as our CEO, Terry Danner, moderated two breakout educational sessions! Danner spoke amongst expert panelists to discuss the critical issues within maintenance technology in the multifamily industry. “Technology in Maintenance” was first up on the schedule and focused on the need for property managers to incorporate technology into their maintenance teams to satisfy residents quickly and efficiently. “Tech tools can be an enhancement to someone’s job if there’s proper training, engagement, and adoption,” said Dave Denslow, Greystar. A proper BYOD system will require training, but the increased productivity of on-site teams far outweighs the costs of implementation.
Next up, Danner and other panelists discussed how to use “Practical Data in Maintenance.” Polls given to the audience during this session indicated that there is a significant need for data in maintenance, but most aren’t sure how to get the process rolling. “The maintenance teams are now the face of the property,” said fellow panelist Raymond Van Beveren, Pinnacle Property Management. “They often have more interaction with residents and are critical for providing outstanding customer service.” With mobile maintenance strategies holding a front seat at NAA this year, the time is now for property managers to empower their maintenance staff to utilize technology to be successful and efficient to drive resident happiness and renewal rates.
